Use THIS FORMAT for Quarter 4 Artist Statements:
.What is the TITLE of the artwork? What is the MEDIA? What is the SIZE? (“h x “w x “d)
.What is the artwork about? Identify and describe the subject of the artwork. Tell us what it is, why you chose to make it, and any unique features the viewer needs to know about.
.Describe the PROCESS you used to create your artwork. What TECHNIQUES did you use? What did you do first, and then what steps did you take? Examples include observational drawing or painting, collage, planning and brainstorming, sculpting steps, etc.
.Identify and describe three ART ELEMENTS within the artwork: (Example: “There are curvy lines in the background.” Not: “There are colors and lines.” )
.Identify and describe one prominent ART PRINCIPLE in your artwork. (Example: “There is balance in the form of the vase because both sides are even and it stands upright.”)
.Identify the part of the project that was most challenging for you, and explain why it was challenging. If no part was challenging, identify a way the project could have been done so that there would be more challenge involved. Remember, self-challenge is a part of this class!
.Identify the MEANING or IMPORTANCE of the piece for you – what is special about it to you? What do you value about the art and/or the experience you had while creating it? What did you learn or accomplish by creating this piece?
.Peer Opinions – After the peer share sheet is completed, have someone else look at your art and give you feedback. Summarize something that your reviewer said. Who gave you feedback? What feedback did you receive? How did it help you or make you think in a different way about your art? Describe any revisions or changes you added to your art as a result of sharing it.
.Self-review of CRAFTSMANSHIP and SKILL. Review and describe your opinions about the care and attention that went into this work of art. Be specific and offer examples that can be seen in the project.
.Is there anything else you’d like to share about your project? (if nothing, write nothing. Do not write “There is nothing else I’d like to say…” !!)
